Knife Crime Awareness Talk
On Wednesday 21 October, Year 5 and 6 students welcomed Toni Matthews, a police community officer, into their classrooms for a discussion about knife crime.
The children discussed the devastating impacts of knife crime and how it effects so many people’s lives. Toni spoke to the children about being a bystander and what to do if they become aware of someone having a knife on their person. All the children were engaged and we had good reflections:
- “If someone tells you to bring a knife threaten someone- don’t do it. If you see a crime scene report it to the police.”
- “You could spend 16 years in prison for a knife crime. Tell a teacher if someone brings a knife to school.”
