Black History Month - our celebrations!
This October, we celebrated Black History Month.
Miss Fafunso and Miss Adams hosted an assembly across the school where we discussed what Black History Month is, and why it is so important to celebrate it.
We discussed the life of Rosa Parks and how her bravery and refusal to be treated differently due to the colour of her skin, led to a change in both behaviour and the law.
Each class took a deep dive into the life of a black individual that has contributed to society and history. The children really enjoyed:
- learning about their class individual
- listening to some of the music they have produced
- watching some famous acting and,
- researching the significance of their role in history.
As a school, we agreed that whilst it is important to celebrate Black History, its celebration should not be limited to the month of October.
We celebrate all cultures and look forward to learning more and more and more!
