National Walking Month
National Walking Month is an initiative set up by Living Streets as part of their manifesto for walking. Living Streets want to encourage the nation to make walking the natural choice for local journeys.
As a school we promote walking to school via our ‘Walk on Wednesdays’ scheme.
Mrs Weir led an assembly to highlight to the children the many benefits of walking. Walking is good for both a healthy body and mind; moreover, walking is hugely positive for the environment as it reduces the number of cars on the road and hence pollution.
Mrs Weir shared some ideas for local places to walk such as Aylesford Village, Cobtree Manor Park and Kit’s Coty House and also, further afield, the seafront at Folkestone.
