Pupil Premium Expenditure
Pupil Premium provides funding for:
- Raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to reach their potential;
- Supporting children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces.
Pupil Premium per pupil for the year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 is as follows:
- £1,480 for every pupil in Year Groups Reception to Year 6 recorded as “Ever 6 FSM”;
- £2,570 for every Looked-After Child (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is “in the care of, or provided with accommodation by an English Local Authority”;
- £2,570 for every pupil who has ceased to be looked after by a Local Authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship, a child arrangements order or a residence order;
- £340 for every pupil in Year Groups Reception to Year 11 where:
- one of their parents is serving in the regular armed forces (including pupils with a parent who is on full commitment as part of the full-time reserve service, and also pupils whose parent is serving in the armed forces of another nation and is formally stationed in England) – and they are recorded in the October school census as being a ‘service child’.
- they have previously been registered as a ‘service child’ in any school census in the last 6 years.
- one of their parents died while serving in the armed forces, and the pupil receives a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or the War Pensions Scheme.
(This funding is primarily to help with pastoral support. It can also be used to help improve the academic progress of eligible pupils if the school deems this to be a priority.)
The grant may be spent in the following ways:
- for the purposes of the school i.e. for the educational benefit of pupils registered at the school;
- for the benefit of pupils registered at other maintained schools or academies;
- on community facilities e.g. services whose provision furthers any charitable purpose for the benefit of pupils at the school or their families, or people who live or work in the locality in which the school is situated.
